Vintage stamps, painted wood on canvas

A collection of original, vintage postage stamps arranged on canvas with a painted wooden circle. The work is mounted behind conservation glass within a dark brown, wooden frame.

Using a variety of stamps featuring Queen Victoria, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II, they have been arranged in a geometric pattern forming the shape of a globe. With a combination of clean and franked stamps they have been grouped together in an autumnal colour palette.

Evoking a sense of nostalgia, this work references a bygone era when mail was the primary form of correspondence.
