Loren is heavily influenced by her Scottish heritage, being driven by her grandfather’s enthusiasm for nature, wildlife and above all, art. Loren spent her childhood feeding her love of art through painting by numbers; often these pictures were far looser and more colourful than the image on the box intended. During School Loren took a self-taught approach to drawing and painting learning to master oils and acrylics in her early teens. At Sir John Talbots Secondary School her reputation grew amongst her teachers, receiving several commissioned works, including the headmistress’s leaving commission; a family portrait (including the dog). From this point onwards she looked at art as a career not just as a hobby.
Loren went on to study Fine Art at Chester University, where she gained a First Class BA Honours Degree prior to completing her teacher training in 2013 at Manchester Metropolitan University. She spent two happy years teaching and inspiring her students before her overriding will was to pursue her own dream, returning to the art world at age 26. Loren still very much lives by her grandfather’s words to; ‘Take risks, dream big and work hard.’ Advice which she has put into action opening the Cheshire Art Hub in June 2016, offering a variety of art services and classes. Loren’s new series of work features her unique bright palette, neon splashes on rustic upcycled palettes, embodying all of her rural influences to date.
