Colin Barnes (Barnzy)
Colin Barnes is a multidisciplinary artist based in South London, who has been developing his practice since graduating from Camberwell College of Art in 2017. His work explores the reproduction and manipulation of images and materials through instinctive experimentation, aiming to uncover imperfection. Drawn to concepts that challenge established boundaries, Colin blends traditional techniques with unconventional approaches, reshaping them to reveal something new or previously hidden. A recurring theme in his work is the idea of being simultaneously seen and unseen, referencing broader notions of double racial identity. This concept is inspired by a childhood question he had while watching 'Tom and Jerry': "Where is the rest of that lady?" Through his art, Colin seeks to complete that unseen figure in a simple yet thought-provoking way.
