Bob & Eve was founded in 2020 by artist Corinna Wilson.
The name Bob & Eve evolved from the word’s bobbin and weave in reference to her use of textiles as a medium. The bobbin is an integral part of weaving on a loom. Another reason for the pseudonym was Wilson didn’t want her parents to see the swear words in her work!
The artist uses a combination of hand tufted and machine techniques to create woollen, colourful originals. The wool is tightly
tufted to construct portraits of people, floral images as well as amusing phrases. Corinna and her husband, Steve, often work together to bounce ideas and slogans off each other. As a creative himself, Steve is often in the studio playing around with words and funny phrases. Corinna takes pleasure from referencing him in the name as Eve instead of Steve! Within a world where bad news dominates our news, we often look to the arts to bring us joy and laughter.
“It's not supposed to be serious and/or challenging, I want my work to represent the everyday in society and represent the funny things I see and hear… Jake and Dinos Chapman that says 'today is not the time of enlightenment, it is the time of light entertainment'. I'm happy if people find some light entertainment through my work, I think that's important at the moment. ”
