Alex, based in Hertfordshire, has been a professional artist since 2007.
At the core of her practice is the idea of communication. How do we interreact with the painting? How does it make you feel? Alex's paintings are inspired by the awe, wonder and the scale of the world we live in. Predominately painting abstract landscapes, the artist aspires to create artwork that seems 'lived in', pieces which have a clear sign of texture and work. Alex works the surface of the
paintings with various instruments, often carving and scratching at the canvas allowing the thick acrylic to form natural marks. Her most recent body of work explores transitional light at dawn and dusk as a metaphor for hope, resilience and change. The composition of her work creates a never ending idea of space.
The paintings are intuitive and sit somewhere between poetry, representation, and abstraction. Responding to the source imagery of sky, weather and light she intends to offer the viewer a nourishing and poetic visual space in which to breathe, dream and be re-energised.
Alex has shown widely in art fairs: self representing at 15 editions of The Other Art Fair in London and New York, and represented at The Affordable Art Fair and Fresh Art Fair. In addition, she has shown with galleries around the world. We are thrilled to represent her at IIF.
